Our Story
From the streets of Zacatecas to 9111 Lake Shore Drive
Meet Angelica & Salvador
We're the family behind Tacos El Zacatecano. Our recipes come straight from Zacatecas, Mexico — inspired by the meals our parents made and the flavors we grew up loving. We've added our own touch over the years, and we want everyone who visits us to enjoy our food and feel welcomed.
In 2015, we took a chance on a dream: a taco truck in Nampa, Idaho. We didn't have much, but we had our family recipes, a commitment to doing things the right way, and a belief that people would taste the difference. They did.
What Makes Our Food Different
Handmade Carnitas
Our signature dish — slow-cooked for hours using our family recipe from Zacatecas. Fall-apart tender with crispy caramelized edges. No shortcuts, no pre-cooked meat. This is the dish that put us on the map.
Fresh-Daily Salsas
Three housemade salsas prepared from scratch every single morning. Real chiles, real heat, real flavor. These aren't from a jar — they're made the way salsas have been made in Mexican kitchens for generations.
Family Recipes
Every dish carries the flavors Angelica and Salvador grew up with. These are the recipes their parents and grandparents taught them — adapted for Idaho, but true to Zacatecas at heart.
From One Truck to a Treasure Valley Favorite
What started as a single taco truck on Lake Shore Drive has become a Nampa landmark. Farmers stop by for lunch. Families bring their kids after school. People drive in from Caldwell, Meridian, Boise, and Eagle because word has spread — when you want the real thing, you come to us.
We've catered weddings, fed hundreds at community events, and shown up at farmers markets across the valley. But no matter how much we grow, we'll always be a family business. Angelica and Salvador are still at the truck. The recipes are still the same. And every customer still gets treated like family.
"Food made with love, served to people who feel like family."— Angelica & Salvador
